Looks like I'm not the only person who thought a Tumblr community would be a great idea. Yup, the ~300 members of http://tumblers.ning.com/ think so too. Oops. Next time I set one of these up I'll make sure it's for something that doesn't already exist. :)

Howdy. It might not be any different than the tumblers.ning.com, to be honest. I planned this whole thing out before I knew it existed. :)
I would say I wouldn't want to devote it to themes only, or to any one thing only.
Yup, a directory is the ultimate goal. I essentially have the coding done for version one of it, but I'm having a hard time deciding how to categorize the directory. Check the forum thread on that topic for an intense discussion on it. :)

Hi there, just wondering how this group will be different from http://tumblers.ning.com/?
Is this one devoted to themes only and will there be a directory? (Tumblr is at 200,000+ users now apparently :)
